Resident Safety Technician


Full time – Permanent

Hours of work: 36 or 40 hours per week*

Salary Range: £35,020 to £41,130 per annum*

Location:  Within all properties maintained and managed by the Wrekin Housing Group, including but not limited to, Shropshire, Staffordshire and the Midlands.

The Role:

Are you looking for a new challenge? In this role we are looking for someone who has the skills to ensure all our properties are up to date with building safety and property compliance. You will also assist in all areas of building related Health & Safety requirements in accordance with legislations and guidance documents.

You will be required to carry out fire risk assessments and property inspections, whilst also organising and arranging follow up works where necessary.

This role will cover all building trade-based functions, with a focus on Fire door inspections, maintenance and installation, fire compartmentation and fire stopping inspections, maintenance and building safety related works.

What we are looking for from you?

You will need Two to three years’ experience of post apprenticeship experience particularly on maintenance of passive fire safety measures will make a successful candidate.

And hold a minimum of NVQ or equivalent in Fire Stopping, Carpentry or Joinery or to be able to demonstrate previous experience undertaking this type of work. A fully driving licence is also essential for this role.

A FIRAS or BMTRADA accreditation and professional qualification in fire safety management and experience with fire risk assessments from creditable providers such as the Fire Protection Association/ Fire Industry Association/ NEBOSH is desirable.

Given the environment you will be working in, you must be able to demonstrate effective communication, work to approved installation guides, accurately carry out fire risk assessments and have a good understanding of the relevant fire safety legislation. Taking responsibility for your own personal development, sharing knowledge and skills and learning from others within your team.

You will promote a positive, friendly and understanding attitude towards our customers and other colleagues in order to achieve consistency with the high levels of performance, efficiency and quality that is expected of our Employees.
