Advanced Craft Carpenter

Salary: £28,618 per annum, plus an opportunity to participate with an additional payment of £327.92, when standby is worked and an enhanced rate for working on a Sunday or a Bank Holiday.

Hours: Full Time Permanent - 36 Hours per week

Location:  Within all properties maintained and managed by the Wrekin Housing Group, including but not limited to, Shropshire, Staffordshire and the Midlands.

The Role:

We are looking for suitably qualified individuals who can demonstrate the ability to carry out a wide range of high-quality carpentry installations such as kitchens, doors and responsive repairs to help us deliver Wrekin’s planned programme of works.

Key responsibilities will include assessing and surveying the work to be undertaken, ensuring it meets the agreed specification and where appropriate organising the relevant materials ready for installation. You will also liaise with tenants and other customers whilst taking responsibility for completing the appropriate paperwork associated with the work being undertaken. 

Although the majority of your work will be mainly carpentry based, you will need to have rounded experience in other trades areas including, plastering, tiling, carpentry and general building maintenance to help our in-house installation team deliver our planned programmes.

What you will need:

Successful applicants will need to be open minded, have a flexible approach to work and a can-do attitude to help deliver the highest levels of customer service.

You will have, or be in the process of attaining a City and Guilds qualification in Carpentry, and have demonstratable experience in either door, window and/or kitchen fitting. Previous experience of responsive maintenance repairs within a construction environment is desirable but not essential as further training can be given.

Working unsupervised and as part of a large team the ability to self-manage is essential. You will be empowered to take ownership of your work and provide assurance to the management teams that your work is being delivered on time and to budget. A full UK Driving license Is Essential.

Given the environment you will be working in, you must be able to demonstrate effective communication, strong team working, organizational, interpersonal skills and be able to maintain high levels of confidentiality at all times. You will be expected to promote a positive, friendly and understanding attitude towards our customers and other colleagues in order to achieve consistency with the high levels of performance, efficiency and quality that is expected of our Employees.
