Alan has extensive senior management experience in the affordable housing sector with a focus on development and regeneration. He is the former Deputy Chief Executive of Accord Housing Association with responsibility for the Commercial directorate which included development, an in-house design team, a construction team, an offsite manufacturing factory, asset management and a direct labour organisation.

Since leaving Accord, Alan has set up his own company to develop sustainable housing for the affordable housing sector and he also undertakes consultancy work. In 2019, he was awarded an OBE for his contribution to housing.

Alan is also an experienced non-Executive Director having served on the Board of a regional NHS Trust and of Redditch Co-operative Homes. He acted as a housing adviser to the National Trust for nine years and held the role of Strategy Officer for the Tenants Association of the National Trust (TANT). He is also the former Chairman of The NHF Regional Investment Group and Energiesprong UK and is the Chairman of the Sustainable Housing Action Partnership (SHAP).
