Making a Difference
to people's lives

Laura Kirkham-Williams

Independent Member: Customer Committee

Originally from North Wales, Laura now lives in Lilleshall, Newport with her two young children in a Wrekin property.

After completing her degree in Criminology, Laura joined Northamptonshire Police Control, in which she also served as a Special Constable and Young Member’s Officer for the Police Staff Union. Following this, Laura moved to Germany and worked for the Army Welfare Service. On her return to the UK, Laura joined the UK Civil Service - most recently working for the Home Office Independent Examiner of Complaints based in Stoke on Trent, the first phase of the Government’s Levelling Up Agenda.

Following her roles in Civil Service, Laura has since set up her own business. A strategic move that has freed up more time to spend with her children, and allowed her to work on her golf swing!

By becoming a Wrekin tenant through their ‘In Reach’ scheme, this provided Laura with a life-changing opportunity enabling her to buy her own home. This is something that Laura wants to ensure continues for other Wrekin families for many years to come.
