Carers Week – Dementia outreach service

Its carers week and this week people are coming together to make care visible.

People across the country are facing new challenges as a result of the coronavirus outbreak with many people having to take on caring responsibilities for relatives and friends. Over 6.5 million people in the UK are carers and are looking after family members or friends that have disabilities, a physical or mental illness or maybe need extra help as they get older. Caring for someone can impact lots of areas like relationships, health and wellbeing and finances.

Caring for a loved one with Dementia can be challenging at the best of times, and with the current restrictions it can be even more demanding. This video explains about our Dementia Outreach service.(It was filmed pre COVID19). The service continues to be available by telephone.

Diane, from our Dementia Outreach Service, is highly trained and experienced in supporting people with dementia. If you are a carer looking for advice or just some emotional support you can contact Diane on 07837 317 521.

We can also advise on benefits and financial support that may be available to carers through our Money Matters team. You can call our friendly team on 01952 217234 or you can email money.matters@wrekin.com.
