#ChangeTheStory – Wrekin's commitment

The Wrekin Housing Group is committed to end gender-based violence through its commitment to the White Ribbon Promise campaign.

Collaborating with a diverse array of agencies, including schools, police, fire service, and others, The Wrekin Housing Group is actively involved in initiatives that emphasise the positive role men can play in reducing violence against women and girls.

The annual White Ribbon campaign focuses on 16 days of action starting from Saturday 25 November, and serves as a focal point for their advocacy.

This year's partnership event, inaugurated by Councillor Kelly Middleton, Telford and Wrekin Council’s Cabinet Member for Healthy, Safer & Stronger Communities and Partnerships highlighted the importance of addressing the behaviour of perpetrators positively as a long-term strategy to reduce victims of domestic abuse.

Sam Hine, Social Value & Inclusion Manager at The Wrekin Housing Group said:

“As part of the White Ribbon Promise campaign, we urge the community to join hands in breaking the silence around violence against women and girls. This commitment extends beyond the 16 days of action. It’s really important that we all advocate for sustained efforts to create a society where safety and respect prevail.”

The Wrekin Housing Group's dedication to the White Ribbon and 16 Days campaign reflects a broader commitment to fostering a community where violence against women and girls is not tolerated. By actively engaging with various sectors and collaborating with local authorities and organizations, the group is shaping a future where everyone can live free from fear, and perpetrators are held accountable.

Jenny Jackson, Anti-Social Behaviour Coordinator with The Wrekin Housing Group said:

“The Group work on a daily basis in the Domestic Abuse field and continually look to improve our services for staff and residents, Jenny Jackson Anti-Social Behaviour Coordinator.”
