Tenants invited to join our new Scrutiny Panel

We’re looking for customers to join a brand‑new Scrutiny Panel, helping to make sure our services meet the needs and expectations of the people who live in our homes.

Following our merger in January 2025, Housing Plus Group now manages 33,000 homes and employs 2,000 people across Shropshire, Staffordshire, and Telford & Wrekin. As a growing organisation, listening to our customers has never been more important.

The Scrutiny Panel will be made up of 5–10 customers and will play a vital role in reviewing how well our services are performing, making recommendations for improvement, and helping to ensure we meet the Consumer Standards.

Panel members will:

  • Review services and performance

  • Represent the customer voice

  • Provide constructive challenge

  • Help shape improvements to services

  • Monitor actions and outcomes

The Panel will work closely with our Service, Performance and Customer Experience (SPaCE) Committee, helping to ensure customer feedback is listened to and reflected in key decisions.

Who can apply?

The Scrutiny Panel is exclusively open to customers of Housing Plus Group and The Wrekin Housing Group. You don’t need previous experience - just an interest in housing services and a desire to help make things better for customers.

What’s involved?

Members are expected to take part in around three scrutiny reviews per year, with training and support provided. The role includes an annual remuneration of £1,500, plus reasonable expenses.

Next steps

Applications for our Scrutiny Panel recruitment are now closed, and we’re delighted to announce that 10 candidates were successfully selected. The standard of applications was incredibly high, and we were truly impressed by the passion, experience and commitment shown by everyone who applied. We’re excited to be working with these customers and look forward to the valuable insight and feedback they will bring to the panel.

We will now begin working closely with the new panel members to support them in their roles. Starting in late June, they will take part in two training sessions delivered by TPAS, focused on the skills and knowledge needed to be an effective scrutiny panel, alongside an introduction to Housing Plus Group. Following this training, the panel members will begin their first scrutiny project in July/August.

If you'd like to have your say, there are lots of other ways to get involved, including surveys, focus groups and walkabouts. To find out more, email customerinvolvement@housingplusgroup.co.uk.
