Employment, skills and training

As many of us spend more time at home the extra time may offer an opportunity to think about your employment goals, skills and training. We have put together a few ideas to get you started

Assess your skills
Whether you have recently lost a job or are thinking about a change you can discover jobs or roles that may suit you. The National Careers Service has tools to help you explore careers, assess your skills and also offers free online courses.

Brush up on essential skills and learn something new
There are a wealth of free online resources available to help you learn something new or to update your essential skills. You could look at learning a new language or even learn to cook.

Free digital and numeracy courses are available at the Skills tool kit and if you want to get better with numbers try The National Numeracy Challenge who have bite- sized lessons and tips to help develop your skills.

Free Qualifications
Our work experience placements and work based training is on hold at the moment, but you can still get qualified. The Open University offers adult learners the chance to get recognised certificates and qualifications for free online.

Consider a move into care
The need for care workers in our communities has never been greater. If you’re thinking about a career in the care sector visit Every Day is Different to find out what a career in care could mean to you.

We offer tailored support to help our customers get back into work or access training. We cover areas like job searching, applications and interview techniques. If you have any questions or would like some advice email opportunities@wrekin.com.
