Energy Advice service expanded as cost of living continues to bite

We have enhanced our Energy Advice service with the appointment of our second Energy Advisor to support customers impacted by increasing living costs.

Jenna Wadelin has been appointed to the role at Housing Plus Group (HPG), having previously worked in the Group’s customer contacts centre.

In her new role, Jenna supports HPG customers by providing energy-saving advice, as well as practical support to people most at risk of fuel poverty and helping to make their homes more environmentally friendly.

HPG, who provide 33,000 homes across Shropshire, Staffordshire and Telford & Wrekin, has created Jenna’s new role, thanks to funding from Cadent Foundation.

Speaking about her role, Jenna said: “There has never been a more important time for dedicated energy and money support to be readily available, particularly as the cost of living continues to rise – to the point where many households are having to make some really difficult choices in order to keep their heads above water.

“I’m looking forward to making a difference in this role, supporting customers who are struggling but also highlight what help is available to those who haven’t reached out for support, perhaps because they aren’t aware or don’t think they’re eligible of the options they can potentially access.”

Jenna’s appointment follows growing demand for HPG’s Energy Advice service, which has helped residents secure savings on their energy costs, as well as access additional financial support.

Dan Bebbington, debt and energy manager at HPG, said: “We know that many residents are continuing to face financial pressures and energy costs remain a major concern for many households. By appointing a second Energy Advisor, we’re increasing our capacity to provide personalised support and ensure more of our customers can access the support they need.

“Jenna is already making a real difference, helping residents save money, improve the energy efficiency of their homes and gain confidence in managing their bills. The addition of Jenna to the team allows us to reach even more people and provide support where it’s needed most.”

Ranjit Blythe, Managing Director of the Cadent Foundation, said: “We have been supporting Housing Plus Group for a number of years and are proud to see the impact the programme makes in helping local residents stay safe and energy efficient throughout the year. It’s great to see the evolution of this partnership through Jenna’s appointment and we’re excited to see the positive impact she’ll make.”
