Gas Safety Week: Jamie’s top tips for staying gas safe in your home
At The Wrekin Housing Group, we’re proud to support Gas Safety Week every year.
Carbon monoxide is known as the ‘silent killer’ because you can’t see, smell or taste it. That’s why it’s so important to stay gas safe in your home.
Watch this short video featuring Jamie, one of our Gas Safe registered engineers, sharing his top tips:
- Make sure you leave any gas work in your home to our Gas Safe registered engineers and don’t attempt any DIY work on your gas appliances.
- Always keep air ventilation points and the gas flue clear.
- Make sure you know where to find your gas meter and how to turn off the gas in an emergency.
- Don’t use a gas appliance if you have any doubt that it is working properly.
Symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning include headaches, dizziness, breathlessness and nausea.
If you smell gas or suspect a gas leak, call the National Gas Emergency Service immediately on 0800 111 999.
