Making a Difference
to people's lives

Its Starts at Home Day!

Today is Starts at Home day and we are joining housing associations around the country to celebrate supported housing and how it makes a positive difference to people’s lives

The Starts at Home campaign is about recognising that in order to live independently and happily, a decent home is needed and how it’s important that everyone that needs support has a safe home that meets their needs.

During the pandemic, Wrekin has played a crucial role in keeping residents safe, controlling infection rates and relieving pressure on the NHS by providing supported and extra-care housing, boosting wellbeing and helping residents to continue living in their own homes.

Throughout the day we will be sharing stories across our social media channels and website about the people that live and work in our supported housing. Hear from residents living in a learning disability care home, how a secure retirement apartment has ignited new passions later in life and how securing a home with the help of our Specialist Services Team has been the catalyst to one man moving on with his life and putting a past addiction behind him.

We are also joining housing associations across the country in calling on the government to reinstate the £1.6bn ring-fenced budged for housing related support, so that vulnerable people get the quality support services needed to help people live independently, prevent homelessness and turn people’s lives around.
