Lift Servicing Compliance – please help us keep you safe

During the COVID-19 pandemic, we all have to follow government advice and guidelines. At Wrekin we have a legal obligation to regularly check any lifting equipment fitted in our homes.

Equipment like stair lifts, through floor lifts, hoists and step lifts is essential to help vulnerable people live safely in their homes, but it also needs to comply with regulations.

Our lifting equipment servicing programme is continuing during these challenging times and we are working with Stannah to carry out essential checks. All service checks are arranged in advance and following completion of a COVID-19 pre-visit assessment.

It’s important that we continue to maintain lifting equipment to reduce the chances of a breakdown occurring. If you are a Wrekin customer with lifting equipment in your home, our team will contact you to arrange a service check. When we schedule an appointment, we will check with you if you are happy for us to visit or would prefer us to postpone. Of course, we will continue to respond to call outs if any breakdowns or repairs are needed.

Stannah have employed extensive measures to protect the health and safety of both our customers and our employees, including:

  • Rigorous risk assessments and following COVID-19 secure protocols for customer visits.
  • Confirming the health status of customer facing staff daily
  • Asking you before we visit if you or anyone in your home is self-isolating due to symptoms of the virus.

They will also ensure you and your family are happy with the measures they are taking to minimise risk before arranging to come to your home.

At the visit Stannah engineers will:

  • wear gloves and masks where necessary
  • wash or sanitise hands before entry and after exit
  • maintain a distance of 2m from you and ask you to remain in a separate room while they are measuring or installing
  • minimise anything that is touched in your home
  • minimise the amount of time spent in your home
  • take any other precautions considered necessary
