Meet the tenants - Owain, Jade and Bradley

As the saying goes, ‘A house is made from bricks and beams, while a home comes from hopes and dreams’, but Owain Vaughan and Jade Jones have had their hopes and dreams become a reality after moving into their new home.

The couple were already living in a Wrekin Housing Trust property in Dawley, but after little Bradley was born in August 2016 it quickly became apparent that their flat was too small for the family.

The pair were keen to stay in Dawley due to family being close by, the convenience of nearby local amenities and schools for when Bradley gets older. At the time of them being placed on the waiting list for a new home work on The Hollow development was well underway.

Located on the corner of Lancaster Avenue where it joins King Street, The Hollow consists of four high-quality two and three bedroom semi-detached houses, all of which are now occupied.

Owain said: “We were really surprised when we found out that we’d be moving into a new build. We really weren’t expecting that. When we first came here to have a look around work was still being finished off, but you could see straight away that it was going to be a fantastic house.”

Owain and Jade moved into their two-bedroom home in late January. On the ground floor, it features a living room to the front of the property, modern kitchen and dining area, as well as a WC. Upstairs, there’s a master bedroom that has a storage cupboard, a second bedroom to the rear of the property, along with a bathroom. Outside there’s an allocated off-road parking space and a small, easy to maintain front and back garden.

Jade added: “Everything happened so quickly, from the time we were put on the waiting list, getting the keys and actually moving in. It all happened within a couple of months!

“I remember when we received the keys. It was a Friday and over that weekend we loaded all our things into four cars and a trailer, moved everything into the house, cleared out our old flat and then returned the keys. It was such an exciting time.

“This house is amazing. I love the kitchen. It’s so much bigger than what we previously had. The second bedroom has been turned into Bradley’s nursery and it’s big enough for him to one day share with a little brother or sister.”

Sarah Broome, Housing Executive at Trust’s Dawley office, said: “We’re all really delighted that Owain, Jade and Bradley have fully settled into their new home.

“The Hollow is a fantastic development, which replaced two existing blocks of flats. It just goes to show that with the right investment, a great design and fantastic build quality, The Wrekin Housing Trust can provide tenants with wonderful homes.”
