New sleigh for Father Christmas

Father Christmas will be able to use a brand new handmade sleigh this year.

Built by a team of maintenance trainees at The Wrekin Housing Group, the sleigh features plenty of room for presents and a hand sanitizing station to keep Santa covid-safe.

The team included Ryan Muriel, Nathan Scott and Matt Dawe who were supervised by Wrekin’s ‘Mr Christmas’ Shaun Pickering whose family are raising charity funds for Telford Mind. They have created Christmas light spectaculars at their homes in Dawley.

Wrekin are firmly committed to the training and development of its staff and the sleigh project is part of the team’s ongoing learning, with project supervisor Shaun, who himself started out as a trainee, also using the project as he works towards a higher business qualification.

Group Chief Executive Wayne Gethings said “The team have done a great job sorting out Santa with a new sleigh this year and its great to see them take on some serious training and personal development while having a bit of festive fun.

“At Wrekin we are committed to seeing our people learn and develop because it’s not only great for them, but also for our customers. Better skills means better services and the opportunity to make and even bigger difference to people’s lives.”
