Nominate a neighbour in the 2018 Community Pride Awards

The Telford Community Pride Awards are now open for nominations, and The Wrekin Housing Trust is urging Telford residents to nominate their neighbours.

Telford_Community_Pride_Awards.jpgThe idea of the 2018 awards is to recognise and celebrate all those who make a difference in the borough, with entries being sought in a variety of categories.

The Wrekin Housing Trust is sponsoring the good neighbour award, recognising a neighbour who has gone above and beyond to help either an individual, or their community.

Other categories include best environmental champion, best sporting achievement, most outstanding volunteer, best community support group and inspiring companies that give something back.

As part of its anniversary celebrations and Pride in Our Community work, the Council will be hosting the awards at the Telford International Centre on 29 November 2018 – 50 years to the day that Telford was created.

Nominations will be shortlisted by a panel of judges at the end of the summer and go forward to the finals on 29 November.

Councillor Shaun Davies, leader of Telford & Wrekin Council, said: "We want to celebrate the wonderful people of Telford and Wrekin, and the amazing work so many do in their local communities.

“We hope people will get behind the awards and nominate a person, group or business who means something to them, for whatever reason, or who is making a difference in the community.

“It could be an individual or organisation who has helped or supported you with your life or organised an activity or event that has brought your community together.

“They could be a friend, neighbour, work colleague, community group, voluntary group, small business or big business – as long as they are people, projects, events or businesses based in Telford and Wrekin.

“Let’s celebrate them.”
