Pergola donation set to enhance Telford school’s outdoor learning space

The Wrekin Housing Group has teamed up with Morris Property to donate a newly-built pergola at Donnington Wood C of E Junior School.

Earlier this year the two companies supported the school’s gardening project by jointly-donating a selection of gardening tools to help transform the outdoor space.

And now the school’s green space has been further enhanced with the installation of a stylish pergola for pupils to enjoy in the new school year.

Martin James, Area Investment Manager for The Wrekin Housing Group said:

“Donnington Wood C of E Junior School have been supportive of the Leonard Close scheme, and these donations are our way of saying ‘thank you’.

“Giving back to our communities is a vital part of the work we do and we are absolutely delighted to be able to support Donnington Wood C of E Junior School. Initiatives such as the school gardening project add another dimension to children’s learning - it can help children gain confidence and resilience.

“The pupils have worked hard to transform their outdoor space and the addition of the new pergola will be an asset to outdoor learning.”

Steve Bowen, Assistant Construction Manager at Morris Property added:

“We were more than happy to support by building the pergola which we hope will be much enjoyed by the pupils in their new space.”

The Wrekin Housing Group and Shrewsbury based Morris & Company Limited are currently developing Wrekin’s Leonard Close site in Donnington Telford.

This regeneration project will see the flats previously located at Leonard Close, replaced with 43 brand new homes. There will be a selection of 2 and 3 bedroom homes available for affordable rent, summer 2022.
