Royal celebrations for new Madeley shop

The official opening of the Trust’s new Madeley shop was celebrated on Friday, to coincide with the Queen’s official birthday.

Queen at Madeley shopThe new shop, now located at 5-6 Horseshoes Court next to the Anstice Memorial Hall, replaces the previous Hills Lane Drive and Woodside offices. Queen Elizabeth II (lookalike Patricia Ford) joined the celebrations alongside local residents and children, and partners of the Trust after she officially opened the Trust’s new ShireLiving extra care scheme in Wellington. The ‘Queen’ also had the honour of cutting the ribbon alongside local children before joining Councillors, employees and residents for a royal tea party.

Shandy Price, Area Manager for Madeley, said: “It’s been a fantastic day, and great to have the local residents join us and the ‘Queen’ for this celebration. The new shop is an ideal location for our customers, especially with our new developments like Brick Kiln Bank in Lightmoor nearby.” The new shop is branded with the Trust’s More than a home campaign which highlights the benefits of building new homes, including providing jobs and boosting the local economy, as well as other useful information for new and existing residents. The previous Hills Lane Drive shop is being converted into a flat by some of the Trust’s apprentices, turning the office into another much needed home.

The Trust has an additional 11 shops in convenient high street locations across Telford, Shropshire and Staffordshire which enables existing and prospective tenants to see homes available, pay their rent and receive advice with any queries they may have. The Madeley shop is open 9am to 5pm Monday, Thursday and Friday, and from 10am to 5pm on Tuesdays.
