Rural Housing Week 2021

This week is Rural Housing Week. The annual campaign from the National Housing Federation aims to highlight the importance of providing quality, and affordable homes in rural areas.

At Wrekin we are committed to working with the rural communities we serve supporting our customers, the communities where they live and building new affordable homes to help meet the future needs of our villages and market towns.

Over the week we will be visiting some of our homes in rural locations to demonstrate the role Wrekin plays in enabling our rural communities to prosper, safeguard vital rural services and provide sustainable balanced futures for their population.

We will meet residents and staff from our ShireLiving extra care scheme, The Coppice in Bicton, Shrewsbury and hear how its success has led to a planned extension to provide a further 54 homes.

Here are Gwen and Roger to talk about how they enjoy living at The Coppice.

We will also take a look at how the pandemic has affected residents living in our rural communities, and find out more about a community led project in Prees which is set to deliver 27 new energy efficient homes - all built to and for the needs and requirements of the people who live there.

Look out for more stories, videos and photos throughout Rural Housing Week here on our website and social media channels.
