Solar panels upgrade helps Housing Plus Group customer cut energy bills
A pensioner says he is already seeing the benefits of new solar panels installed at his bungalow by Housing Plus Group (HPG), helping him reduce his energy costs and feel more confident about his future bills.
David Halford, who lives in Wrockwardine Wood, Telford, recently had solar panels fitted as part of HPG's ongoing investment in improving the energy efficiency of customers’ homes.
Since the installation earlier this year, the retired lorry driver has noticed a reduction in his electricity usage and is pleased with the difference the renewable technology is making already.
He said: “I'm over the moon with the solar panels. In the current climate with the cost of living still being a concern for many of us, every saving helps. It's reassuring to know that I'm generating some of my own electricity and reducing my bills at the same time.
“I'm checking the app on my iPad every day. It's become a bit of a habit for me because I'm enjoying seeing how much energy the panels are generating and how much I'm saving, it's great to see those numbers for myself as it’s covering my daily standing charge, plus putting me in credit.”

For Mr Halford, the benefits have been immediate – and he is on track to make savings of almost £380 per year.
He added: “I never thought I'd be spending so much time looking at an app but it's exciting to see the savings adding up. I'm really pleased with the difference the solar panels are making.
