Making a Difference
to people's lives

Supporting your financial wellbeing with help and advice

January is often seen as a difficult time and the third Monday of the month has the gloomy title of Blue Monday. Here at Wrekin, we are continuing to make a difference to people’s lives by supporting you, and your financial wellbeing.

We know that the ongoing impact of COVID-19 means that more people will be worried about their money, and a number of people will be faced with difficult decisions about their finances.

We understand how quickly financial worries can spiral into serious debt problems without help and intervention, and you can receive free, impartial, confidential advice from our Money Matters team and Debt Advice service.

Our Money Matters team offers advice on money and benefits. You can contact the team on 01952 217283/217234 or email money.matters@wrekin.com.

They can advise you on:

  • which benefits, such as Universal Credit, you might be entitled to
  • support for paying your Council Tax
  • paying utility bills
  • accessing food banks
  • managing your household budget
  • dealing with debt issues

Residents are still expected to pay their rent during this time, and we have a range of services available to help provide support and advice on managing your finances. Please contact your Housing Executive on 01952 217100 if you are experiencing difficulties.

You can read more about the Government support available throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, including details on Statutory Sick Pay (SSP) and Universal Credit.

Understanding Universal Credit also provides a simple guide, and has links to Benefit Calculators, the Money Advice Service and more.

Our debt advisors offer impartial, regulated and free debt advice. You can contact the team on 01952 217251, or email debtadvice@wrekin.com.

They can:

  • Support you with free regulated and confidential debt advice to find solutions that suit you.
  • Help you to manage your rent and household bills
  • Look for ways to maximise your income and reduce your spending

You can also receive free, regulated debt advice from your local Citizens Advice or Step Change.
