The Wrekin Housing Group pleased to sponsor Pride of Shropshire Awards

The Wrekin Housing Group is pleased to have supported the Pride of Shropshire Awards this year with The Wrekin Housing Trust sponsoring Fundraiser of the Year and partner, Choices sponsoring the Carer Award.

Organised by the Shropshire Star, the judging panel decided on the 26 finalists and for the first year ever they asked their readers to vote for the winners with tokens from the newspaper.

With Signal Radio’s Dicky Dodd as master of ceremonies, the adult Fundraiser award went to Ed and Ruth Lowe who run the Plough Inn, Wellington. In the past six years they have raised more than £83,000 pounds for Help for Heroes and Care for Casualties. Junior Fundraiser of the Year was Guitar Cubed, young musicians Louis Briggs and Tom Barras. Louis and Tom raised £4300 from a 25 hour busk in Shrewsbury for Shrewsbury Ark, and on the day of the Bridgnorth Walk added £1000 by walking for 22 miles.

Carer of the Year was won by Judy Freeman of River Meadow nursing home in Shawbury. Judy organises entertainments for residents, including musicians, artists and farmers with newborn lambs. Judy is always busy making sure the residents feel valued and comfortable.

Congratulations to Ed and Ruth, Louis and Tom, Judy and all of the runners up from everyone at The Wrekin Housing Group.Top of Form
