Things to do this anniversary weekend - VJ Day 75

Saturday 15 August marks 75 years of VJ Day and our Comms team would like to share some ideas for the commemorations.

The BBC will be marking the anniversary with two special programmes.

VJ Day: The Nation Remembers will be aired at 9.30am and will be broadcast from the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire. The programme will include a National Service of Remembrance and two minute silence led by HRH The Prince of Wales. In the evening, VJ Day: The Nation’s Tribute will be on BBC1 at 8.30pm. This unique event will include a tribute to veterans and remember those who served in the Far East.

The National Memorial Arboretum has worked in partnership with the Royal British Legion and Citizen Housing to create VJ Day activity packs. These can be downloaded for free from their website and include a quiz and children’s activity pack for the family to try.
