Things to try at home this weekend

While we are all staying at home, protecting the NHS and saving lives our Communications team would like to share some free activities that you can do without leaving home.

This weekend, how about tapping your toes to the beat with Andrew Lloyd Webber? Each week, full length performances of his famous musicals are being shown on the YouTube channel – The Shows Must Go On. They start at 7pm on a Friday evening and then remain available for 24 hours after and this week it will be Cats that is showcased.

Have a route through your cupboards and get stuck in to a jigsaw puzzle or a board game? Don’t worry if you haven’t got any at home, there are some puzzles and games suitable for youngsters on the CBBC website. For those with young children who may be concerned about these uncertain times, ‘Everybody Worries’ a book by Jon Burgerman can be read online.

Our third suggestion is some family friendly baking. The National Trust have some recipe ideas for all the family to try. For those with a sweet tooth there is a lemon drizzle cake, or for those who prefer savoury, the cheese scones look tempting. Anyone else feeling hungry now?

Some changes to restrictions on our lives are changing but we are all reminded that we should be staying alert and:

- Staying at home as much as possible, leaving only for exercise, to go to work (if you cannot work from home), buy essential groceries, and access medical care
- Limiting contact with other people, and keeping your distance (2m apart)
- Washing our hands often
