Third and final phase of new homes for St Martins

The Wrekin Housing Trust is providing a much-needed third phase of homes in St Martins, near Oswestry.

Working with CGL to develop the homes, the Trust has already provided 25 homes for rent, a mixture of houses and bungalows, as well as six shared ownership properties.

The Trust has worked with the local project board, and Shropshire Council, to identify the need for further bungalows at the Bower Farm site in the village, adjacent to Stan’s supermarket, and is currently building 18 more.

This third phase will provide one and two bedroom bungalows, as well as a specially adapted four bedroom bungalow for a family from St Martins with a child who uses a wheelchair, enabling them to move back to the area and to live in a home that suits their needs and will improve their life.

Steve Swann, Development Manager for The Wrekin Housing Trust, said: “These properties will complete the Trust’s development in the area, with a total of 49 new affordable homes overall; built to high sustainability and energy standards. It’s testament to the partnerships we’ve formed that we’ve been able to provide such a high number of new homes, helping to meet the demand for affordable quality homes for the people of the village and surrounding area.”

Work has now started on the new homes which will create over 40 jobs including apprenticeship opportunities, and generate over £4 million to the economy.Bower Farm bungalows
