Trust residents raise money for children's hospice

A group of Wrekin Housing Trust Retirement Living residents took the yearly summer fayre as an opportunity to fundraise for Hope House Children's Hospice – and ended up collecting more than a thousand pounds for the charity.

Through the summer fayre and raffles, the scheme, based in Donnington, raised £559. That total was upped to £1,336 by the tireless fundraising efforts of resident Chris Nelson, along with her family and friends, who decided they wanted to help to boost the donations. They organised and held a charity event evening at the Wrockwardine Wood Football club in November, offering entertainment and a disco, to raise the rest of the money.

Fiona Griffiths, Retirement Living Coordinator at Lawndale, said "At the moment, the residents are still deciding which charity they want to nominate for our fundraising activities this year but they are amazing with the effort they put into all of our events over the past year."
