Virtual Shrewsbury Flower Show 14-15 August 2020
The popular annual flower show will showcase a new virtual event this Friday 14 and Saturday 15 August.
The Shrewsbury flower show would normally be held in the quarry park but was cancelled due to COVID-19.
The virtual itinerary is available online and the show will run from 12 noon to 8.00pm on both days. There will be a cookery demonstration from our very own Chef Manager, Jacob Perry who will be perfecting pancakes. Watch Jacob at 3.00pm on Friday via the virtual flower show.
The virtual show will highlight Wrekin’s sponsorship of the Best sustainable garden including how our landscape gardeners have continued to work through COVID-19 restrictions.
Best Sustainable garden and investing in environmental sustainability
Sustainability is close to our heart and we have sponsored the best sustainable show garden for the last eight years. We are consciously investing in environmental sustainability through the building of new energy efficient, affordable homes. Many of our new homes support wildlife friendly features like bat and swift boxes.
Maintaining landscaped spaces throughout COVID-19 restrictions
Throughout COVID-19 restrictions our landscaping teams have continued to keep the gardens and outdoor spaces surrounding their Retirement schemes maintained and looking great. This has been of particular importance for the wellbeing of older residents as many have had to isolate or shield.
Cookery showcase
Last year Chef Manager Jacob Perry showcased his cookery talents on stage in the food hall by demonstrating a recipe for the classic, Shropshire fidget pie.
Jacob said, “I wanted to share how to create some real Shropshire fayre so fidget pie was an obvious choice. It’s also perfect summer food and ideal for picnics and the piccalilli makes great use of a summer harvest.”
Jacobs’s pie recipe will be available at the virtual show and look out for demonstration videos across the show’s social media.
