Making a Difference
to people's lives

Volunteering a thank you

It’s Volunteers’ Week and this year is about celebrating and thanking those who give up their time to make a difference.

Although our volunteering programs are on hold we would like to thank all the volunteers that have offered their time and skills across Wrekin over the last year and we look forward to welcoming everyone back soon.

Our volunteers enhance the services that we offer helping people to get digital, run our community centres and book shop and ensuring our social events run without a hitch. Our involved tenants, like the Tenants Panel also volunteer their time and continue to do so.

Volunteer Angela Hollick normally helps with our Stepping out disco and afternoon tea events and says; “It’s not like work because you’re socialising a lot of the time. I enjoy making new friends and being of help to others. You’re making people smile which is the important thing.”

We would also like to say a big thank you to people across our communities that are helping our tenants out in these challenging times. People like Taj a shop keeper in High Ercall, who always shows kindness and has a cheery word. The Polish Support Group who have been helping with face masks and The Hub on the hill in Telford who have been delivering hot meals to our residents. These are just a few! Thank you to everyone who is making a difference to people’s lives.

Volunteering has lots of benefits. As well as helping others it can boost your mental and physical health. It needn’t mean committing to vast amounts of time long term either. It could be doing a few regular small things or giving one or two days over a year.
