Whitchurch gardening project given a boost by The Wrekin Housing Group
The Wrekin Housing Group has teamed up with a local community group to help transform Whitchurch’s Jubilee Park.
Wrekin, who provide housing and care services across Shropshire, Staffordshire and Telford & Wrekin, has donated 40 plants and shrubs to the community-led We Are Whitchurch group.
We Are Whitchurch was started in October 2020 to look after and spruce up parts of the town. Local volunteers are currently transforming an area of the town’s Jubilee Park, for the local community to enjoy.
Jack Thornton from We Are Whitchurch said “Work is well under way and the new garden will include a fully landscaped area with a walkway made from logs, wild flowers and natural features to attract wildlife such as hedgehogs.”
Mike Bolton from Wrekin’s landscaping team said “It’s great to have been able to donate nearly 40 plants and shrubs from the grounds of Pauls Moss ahead of its re-development. The addition of the more mature plants and shrubs will help get the new garden established so it can be enjoyed by those who visit in future.”
The redevelopment of Pauls Moss will see a brand new medical centre for the town alongside affordable retirement housing and community space. The project is being undertaken by The Wrekin Housing Group, Shropshire Council and NHS Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin Clinical Commissioning Group and local GPs.
