Wrekin Reviive aims to turn Black Friday green!

A social enterprise that recycles and upcycles furniture and electrical goods at stores in Shropshire is encouraging customers to take advantage of fantastic deals as part of “Green Friday”.

Wrekin Reviive specialises in the resale of donated household furniture and electrical goods through its recycling and upcycling centres in Oswestry and Shrewsbury, as well as online.

Focused on breathing new life into pre-loved items, creating a positive impact on local communities and the environment, Wrekin Reviive’s sustainable alternative to Black Friday is back for 2023. Shoppers can enjoy a 30% discount in store, over the phone and online between Monday 20 November to Sunday 26 November.

James Cooper, Commercial Manager at Wrekin Reviive said:

“Customers from the local area and beyond have been looking forward to seeing what bargains they can bag before Christmas kicks in. It’s proven to be a great alternative to Black Friday shopping in the past so we’re really pleased we can bring Green Friday back again this year.”

To help raise awareness around the impact of society's shopping habits, Green Friday (encourages people to shop more sustainably. Green Friday is all about shopping carefully — and buying from retailers that promote greener causes.

Last year, 95 per cent of the items donated to Wrekin Reviive were either reused or recycled – meaning 253 tonnes of items were diverted from landfill.

Richard Carpenter, Online Commercial Coordinator at Wrekin Reviive said:

“It’s exciting to see sustainable living becoming more popular. The teams in Shrewsbury and Oswestry are really committed to providing a great customer experience. They’ve got great relationships with our regulars, who will no-doubt be popping in to take advantage of the offer next week but what I’m most proud of is being part of something bigger. Helping people and the environment is a win-win.”
