Asbestos safety

Asbestos was used in the construction of many buildings, between 1900 and 1999.

Asbestos was a popular material because of its strength and fire resistance, but can be a health hazard if it gets disturbed during repairs or building work.

Asbestos materials are generally safe if they're undamaged and not releasing fibres into the air.

You might find asbestos in various places, including ceiling and wall coatings, floor tiles, fire protection linings, and external soffits and facias.

If any of these materials get damaged, let us know immediately by calling the repairs line on 01952 217217.

If your home was built before the year 2000, your property will have had an asbestos survey, and you can request the information by calling our general enquiries number on 01952 217100. Our Building Facilities team will be more than happy to help with any queries.
