Lynne McNulty, Retirement Living Team Leader

Lynne McNulty - Retirement Living Team Leader, has been with The Wrekin Housing Group since 1999 having moved from Telford and Wrekin Council.

For Wrekin's 25 year anniversary in March, we caught up with staff who've been with us since the very beginning, asking about their Wrekin journey and highlights over the years.

“I’d say the biggest change from the then to now – there was no contact centre so we would take all the enquiries at the local shop. There would be bags and bags of money behind us in the shop when all the rent came in. We even had to use a manual on reception to help customers with repairs. They would call up and say they have a leaking toilet and you’d have to flick through the book and say ‘Have you tried this or that?’."

“Customers knew all their local trades by name and we would advertise all the properties in the window like you see at estate agents now. It was always a busy day when the new adverts came out.”

After a restructure in 2001 Lynne first became a Customer Executive, then a Housing Executive, before later making the switch to Retirement Living who, at the time, had a big office on the third floor.

“I’ve really enjoyed my time at Wrekin and am glad to have progressed along the way. There’s a lot of job satisfaction in Retirement Living – you really are making a difference. The ladies I work with are just brilliant and very reactive to change.”

“I’ve met some good friends working here along the way – lifelong friends.”
